How well is your Personal Information Protected Online

When consumers use the web to conduct transactions such as shopping, they are often asked for Personally Identifying Information (PII). NYPIRG researchers reviewed the privacy policies of different types of widely used consumer Web sites to see if they protected consumer PII with a steel door by informing consumers well of how they will use their PII and protecting consumer PII or a screen door for not adequately informing consumers or protecting their PII. So far, NYPIRG has released two privacy policy reports. The first report included privacy policies of travel Web sites that consumers would use to book flights, make hotel room reservations, rent cars, etc.
